Civil Service Examination (IAS Examination) has three successive stages:
1.Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
2.Main Examination (Descriptive Type)
3.Interview (Oral)
1. Preliminary Examination
Preliminary Exam has two papers. The question paper will have questions in English and Hindi languages.
Paper I : 2 hrs duration & 200 marks
Paper II:2 hrs duration & 200 marks
2.Main Examination
There are total 8 papers in main examination. The total mark is 2000.
Paper: I
Subject: Any one of the Indian Regional Languages given in the List.
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum Marks: 300
Paper: II
Subject: English Language Test
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum marks: 300
Note : Papers I & II will contains questions on Matriculation or equivalent standard. The marks obtained in these papers will not be counted for ranking. But the candidates should attain the qualifying marks.
Paper: III
Subject: Essay
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum marks: 200
Paper: IV
Optional Subject 1 : Candidates has to select this optional subject from the prescribed list.
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum marks: 300
Paper: V
Optional Subject 1 : Candidates has to select this optional subject from the prescribed list.
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum marks: 300
Paper: VI
Optional Subject 2 : Candidates has to select this optional subject from the prescribed list.
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum marks: 300
Paper: VII
Optional Subject 2 : Candidates has to select this optional subject from the prescribed list.
Duration: 3 hours
Maximum marks: 300
Total: 2000
3. Interview
Total 300 marks for Interview. ½ of the candidates called for interview will be selected for the appointment of Civil Services. Marks from Main Examination + Interview will determine the fate of the candidates.
