Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) conducts Sub Inspector Selection. The announcement and the advertisement  for the Sub Inspector Examination for the year 2012 is expected to be published soon.
Eligibility and Age Limit
Candidates should have a degree from a recognised university.
BC/MBC/DNC : 18 to 26 years
SC/ST : 18 to 29 years
Ex-servicemen : Within 3 years from the date of discharge subject to a maximum of 45 years
Destitute Widow : 35 years, belonging to OC/BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST.
Physical Measurement Test
Height : 168 cms
Height relaxation : SC/ST 165 cms
Chest : 81 cms when Unexpanded and 86 cms when expanded
Endurance Test
Running 1500 Mtrs in 7 minutes. Successful candidates have to undergo Physical Efficiency Test.
Physical Efficiency Test
3 events with a minimum qualifying marks of 6 {1 star in each event} and a maximum of 15 marks allotted.
Events 1*=2 marks 2*=5 marks
Rope Climbing 5.0 mtrs. 6.0 mtrs.
Long Jump 3.80 mtrs. 4.50 mtrs.
High Jump 1.20 mtrs. 1.40 mtrs.
Running-100 mtrs 15.00 sec. 13.50 sec.
Running-400 mtrs 80.00 sec. 70.00 sec.
Written Test and Syllabus for Sub Inspector Examination
Minimum qualifying marks in the written test is 28 marks out of 80 marks.
General Knowledge - 45 marks
Psychology Test - 25 marks
Physical Efficiency Test - 15 marks
NSS/NCC/Sports/Games - 5 marks
Viva voce - 10 marks
NCC
One year member - ½ mark.
Possession of 'B' certificate - 1 mark.
Possession of 'C' certificate/under officer/best cades in All India level -2 marks.
NSS
Participation in National Programme like Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, National Integration and Motivation camps, Inter State Youth Exchange
Programme sponsored by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports/State Government - ½ mark.
Best Volunteers at State Level, national Level, Best NSS Cadet at Republic Day parade at New Delhi - 1 mark.
Sports/Games
Represented School in Education district - ½ mark.
Represented College in Zonal Level (Inter Collegiate) - ½ mark.
Represented University (Form - III) (Inter University) - 1 mark.
Represented District in Inter District tournaments - 1 mark.
Represented State (Form - II) - 1½ mark.
Represented Nation in International Competitions (Form - I) - 2 marks.
Quota is available for Sportsperson, dependents of serving police personnel, dependents of serving prison personnel, dependents of serving fire personnel,ministerial staff and ex-servicemen etc.
